
The Counseling Services Office provides personal counseling and psychological services to CIA students, free of charge. Counseling services include individual counseling, crisis intervention, outreach programs, psycho-educational screenings, consultations, and referrals to off-campus counseling resources. Counselors can assist students in dealing with personal, social, emotional, or substance related issues.
Three professional counselors are located in Roth Hall, Room 371. Counselors generally work by appointment. To schedule a time to meet, please call 845-905-4241 or ext. 4241 from campus. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. For urgent situations, a same-day consultation can be arranged. Please note that our offices are closed during winter and summer break periods.
Individual counseling is usually short-term and supportive in nature. The duration of treatment may vary depending on the identified issue and the student's motivation for change. If further therapy or counseling is required, a referral will be made.

Consultations are available for students, parents, faculty, and staff who would like advice on how to handle a difficult situation involving a student who may need to be put in touch with Counseling Services. To set up a consultation please call 805-905-4241.
Confidentiality and trust are very important to the counseling process. Therefore, except as required by law, the information disclosed during counseling will not be shared with anyone outside of the Counseling Services Office without the student's written consent. However, if the life or safety of a student or someone else is in imminent danger, the counselor may be obligated to notify appropriate persons.
